Job Description:
De Montfort University (DMU) is a vibrant, globally minded institution, renowned for its commitment to providing an exceptional educational experience and fostering a supportive, inclusive environment. Our university is driven by a mission to make a positive impact on society through innovative teaching, research, and community engagement. At DMU, our mission is to be recognised as a leading university creating an inclusive and personalised experience that will transform our communities and allow our students and staff to thrive.
At DMU, we are transforming our Technology Directorate to provide a strategic, transformational, and university-wide approach to digital technology and innovation. We aim to create a modern technology workforce capable of designing and delivering services that enable next-generation learning, teaching, research, and drive innovation across our organisation.
The role
The Associate Director of Products is an exciting leadership opportunity, working closely with the Director of Technology Transformation and the wider leadership team to lead our journey towards a product-led, user-centric service model.
In this newly created role, you will shape and direct the delivery and development of our digital product portfolio, building and enabling our product teams to work collaboratively to design, deliver, and continually improve a sustainable and unified technology-enabled experience for our students and staff.
As we embark on this product journey, you’ll leverage your product knowledge and experience to set the strategy and direction for the product-led transformation across the University, designing and delivering inclusive digital services to enable learning, teaching, research, and innovation, with a focus on continuously improving the student and staff experiences.
Working as part of the Senior Leadership Team, this role offers an opportunity to bring enthusiasm and a proven track record for delivering innovative digital customer experiences aligned with the University’s strategic goals.
About you
* A background in strategic digital leadership with experience of delivering digital products and services to transform customer experience.
* Experience leading high-performing multidisciplinary digital teams through change and transformation initiatives.
* Extensive experience in adapting services to meet customer needs and improving standards.
* Significant experience in user-centred service design practices and methodologies.
* Proven ability to drive and champion new ways of working at scale across multiple products and services.
* Experience working collaboratively with senior leadership and managing change across technology and non-technology stakeholders.
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues at all levels, technical or non-technical.
* An understanding of the complexities of working within a Higher Education environment is desirable but not essential.
At DMU, we are committed to creating an environment where our employees enjoy working. We offer a comprehensive set of rewards, benefits, and services, including:
* £70,000 - £75,000 per annum, dependent on experience
* 35 days annual leave plus bank holidays and university concessionary days (approximately 13 days each year)
* Generous pension scheme (Local Government Pension scheme)
* Flexible, hybrid working arrangements
* Health cash plan
* Childcare Vouchers
* Cycle to work scheme
* Discounted gym membership
