Required Skills Bookkeeping administration clerical Job Summary Bookkeeper Northampton | Full time | c£28,000 depending on experience Four Talent is recruiting on behalf of a long-established Northampton building company for an experienced Bookkeeper to join their friendly, close-knit office team. With over 50 years of success across the county, the business has built a strong local reputation and is now looking for a capable all-rounder with bookkeeping and general administration skills to take on a varied, hands-on role at the centre of the accounts function. This opportunity combines bookkeeping with day-to-day office support. You’ll work closely with the Managing Director and Accounts team in a small, supportive environment, taking ownership of key financial processes while assisting with wider administrative duties. It’s a role suited to someone who enjoys variety, responsibility and being a trusted part of the team. Key responsibilities include: Processing supplier invoices and resolving queries Reconciling supplier statements and preparing monthly payments Monitoring customer and supplier balances Entering purchase order information Managing energy supplier accounts and reconciliations Processing subcontractor invoices and supporting CIS returns Checking VAT accuracy and reverse charge where applicable Petty cash management High-volume data entry and record keeping Handling confidential financial information Supporting the MD and wider office with clerical/admin tasks About you: We’re looking for someone organised, confident and proactive; a practical all-rounder who is comfortable dealing with suppliers, customers and team members while managing a busy workload. Construction industry experience is helpful but not essential. Transferable bookkeeping skills and the right attitude are more important. You’ll ideally bring: Previous bookkeeping experience (AAT desirable, studying or qualified by experience) Strong financial awareness and accuracy Good working knowledge of Sage 50, Outlook, Word and Excel Excellent attention to detail Confident communication and telephone manner Ability to prioritise and work to deadlines A proactive, problem-solving approach CIS/reverse charge knowledge (an advantage, not essential) What’s on offer: Salary circa £28,000 depending on experience 25 days holiday bank holidays Free on-street parking Supportive and long-standing team environment If you’re an experienced Bookkeeper looking for a new challenge in a varied position within a well-respected local company, we’d love to hear from you.
