Join to apply for the Family Work Practitioner - Early Intervention role at Greater Manchester West Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust

As part of investment within community services, Manchester EIS have additional funding to expand, creating an exciting time to join the service. Manchester EIS have created two full-time Band 6 Family Work Practitioner posts to join two of our EIS teams; one in Central Team (based at Chorlton House) and one in North Team (based at Central Park).

We require highly motivated and committed individuals with a genuine passion for providing evidence-based family interventions (e.g. BFT, CBT-FI, Open Dialogue etc). Our EIS colleagues work alongside each other to offer therapeutic interventions to people experiencing a first episode of psychosis and their family members.

Our service is keen to recruit people who enjoy working in a multi-disciplinary team, who are passionate, motivated, adaptable, and responsive to working with families. As well as facilitating family therapy, post holders will be integrated MDT members working closely with colleagues, alongside having opportunities to contribute to group family therapy supervision within the service.

Although working within a service like ours can involve significant challenges, we have a fantastic collection of colleagues to work alongside, with very low staff turnover. The posts offer an incredibly supportive team working environment. Post holders will receive regular and consistent clinical and professional supervision; and develop relationships with colleagues service-wide who meet regularly for invaluable peer support.

To co-deliver Family Interventions alongside members of the MDT, and where necessary other Family Workers from other teams across the service. The post may also involve the facilitation of family interventions independently as a lone family practitioner.

To support engagement with the monthly group family therapy supervision across the three teams in Manchester EIS.

To formulate families presenting difficulties, integrate and apply family theory to clinical practice.

The posts will function as integral members of the MDT and attend weekly MDT meetings to integrate and improve access to Family interventions.

To support the provision of appropriate information and education to families, carers and the care system.

To provide emotional and psycho-social support to the carers and family members of people experiencing a first episode of psychosis.

To promote a culture of learning, education and professional development the team often has students on placement.

To develop and maintain relationships and pathways with other services.

To demonstrate effective communication skills with service users, families, team members, colleagues and other agencies.

To undertake and record comprehensive risk assessments.

To adhere to the principles of safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults in line with Trust Policy and local reporting procedure.

To maintain detailed and accurate case notes in accordance with professional standards.
