Overview
Lawyer (Children & Families Legal Service) – Manchester City Council. This public sector childcare role supports Children’s Services to deliver safe, efficient and effective services to families in Manchester and surrounding areas.
Responsibilities
* Provide legal advice to Children’s Services supporting them in all aspects of their statutory functions.
* Represent the local authority in court on a regular basis and manage your own caseload; advocacy will form a substantial part of the role.
* Work with Manchester, Rochdale and Salford’s Children’s Services as part of an enhanced legal team with training, mentoring, coaching and a new Case Management System.
* Draft legal documentation and provide clear, concise advice to clients; communicate effectively with colleagues and partners.
* Contribute to high-quality representation of Children’s Services and support safer outcomes for children and families.
Qualifications
* 2 references – where possible, we require 3 years’ history.
* Qualified solicitor, barrister, Chartered Lawyer or Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives with a current practising certificate.
DBS and Other Checks
* DBS clearance – Standard DBS check; information provided will be treated in confidence and in accordance with the DBS Code of Practice. A policy on the Employment of Ex-Offenders is available on request.

* Working Hours: 35 hours per week
