We have a fantastic opportunity for Marine Surveyors ineither theLeeds, Grimsby or Newcastle area.
As a Marine Surveyor,you'llmanage a caseload of marine insurance claims across theUK, from inspecting vessels and cargo, coordinating with repair yards, to finally settling each claim.
Imagine yourself stepping into the maritime world during some of its most challenging moments: a cargo ship damaged in a storm, a fishing vessel with engine failure, or a yacht with hull damage.You'llbe there, the expert providing clarity amidst the uncertainty, then returning to your desk surrounded by your colleagues, or to your laptop at home, to compile a comprehensive report.
Along with visits to claimants’ vessels in theUK, we are happy for your base to be a balance of our office and your home.

The skills you will have when you apply:
1. A full UK Driving Licence: It is essential you can travel by car
2. Experience:It is essential you have experiencein marine cargo surveying or a related maritime/logisticsrole
3. Excellent communication skills:You'llspeak with and write to policyholders, insurers, repair yards, and more.You’llexplain complex details clearly and negotiate fair settlements for all.
4. Problem-solving abilities: You should be able toidentifyand solve problems efficiently
5. Time management: Asyou’llbe planning your own week, you must effectively manage your time, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines. You willbe requiredto handle multiple claims simultaneously.
Key Responsibilities:
6. Attend surveys at ports, vessels, terminals, warehouses, and inland locations.
7. Investigate cargo loss, damage, deterioration, or shortage.
8. Identifycause of loss and assess extent of damage.
9. Collect evidence including photographs, documents, measurements, and data records.
10. Providepractical advice on mitigation, salvage, or disposal.
11. Communicate clearly with clients and stakeholders.
12. Producetimely,accuratesurvey reports in line with Sedgwick standards.
Cargo Focus:
13. Reefer & Food:Cold‑chain failures, temperature deviations, contamination, spoilage.
14. Steel:Corrosion, water damage, handling damage,packagingand storage issues.
15. Project Cargo:Damage to high‑value or oversized machinery and equipment.
16. Bulk:Condition,quantity, contamination,moisturedamage, ordeterioration.
