LIVE-IN HOUSEKEEPER JOB | SYRE, HIGHLAND, SCOTLAND
SALARY: £30,000 - £40,000 PER ANNUM GROSS

A traditional sporting estate in the Scottish Highlands, centred around one of the finest salmon fishing rivers in the country. The main lodge accommodates 8–10 guests per week throughout the season, welcoming a high calibre of returning visitors including the owners, their family, and long-standing guests. The estate operates with a small, close-knit team including an Assistant Housekeeper and a Private Chef, all of whom live on site.
The Head Housekeeper will oversee the day-to-day running of the lodge, ensuring exceptional standards of hospitality and housekeeping throughout the season. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who takes pride in their work, thrives in a remote setting, and enjoys being part of a warm, family-oriented team. The ideal candidate will be flexible, self-sufficient, and comfortable working alongside others to ensure everything runs smoothly.

Type: Live-In, Fixed-Term Contract for Season with Potential for Full-Time Year-Round Position
Working Days: 6 days per week
Working Hours: 35 hours per week

Salary: £30,000-£40,000 per annum gross
Accommodation: Modern two-bedroom bungalow on estate provided (utility bills covered by the employee)
Driving: Essential, own vehicle preferred

DAILY SCHEDULE:
7:30am: Breakfast service begins – preparing tea, coffee, and assisting the Chef with service for guests
9:00am–1:00pm: Housekeeping duties – clearing breakfast, setting up the dining room for dinner, cleaning the lodge, making up guest rooms, and general household tasks
1:00pm–3:00pm: Break (return home)
3:00pm–3:30pm: Return to clear lunch service and prepare for the evening
Evening (from 7:30pm–8:00pm): Dinner service – assisting the Chef, serving food, clearing plates, washing up, and attending to any guest requests
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Providing a warm, professional welcome to guests throughout their stay
* Full housekeeping of the lodge including bedrooms, bathrooms, and communal areas
* Bed making, linen changes, and replenishing toiletries
* Breakfast, lunch, and dinner service support alongside the Private Chef
* Clearing and resetting the dining room between meals
* Attending to day-to-day guest enquiries and reasonable requests
* Assisting with weekly changeovers on Sundays
* Working collaboratively with the Assistant Housekeeper and Chef
* Occasional errands, including trips to local shops or Inverness for supplies
REQUIREMENTS:
* Minimum 3 years of private experience in similar roles
* Valid UK driving licence + Own vehicle preferred (works van available for estate duties)
* Comfortable living and working in a remote, rural location in the Scottish Highlands
* 2 excellent, checkable verbal references
* Valid UK work permit
