The Network Engineering Service designs, builds and validates the core physical and virtual networks powering a secure, multi-site platform. The role covers formal design work, system testing and resolving complex network issues alongside Service Management.
Key Responsibilities Engineer and validate secure multi-site network components.
Produce and review HLDs, LLDs, implementation guides and config standards.
Design and manage hierarchical IP subnetting.
Configure and troubleshoot OSPF, BGP and enterprise routing.
Deploy and maintain routers, switches and firewalls.
Implement and support:
Cisco Nexus
Cisco IOS XE
Leaf-and-Spine architectures
VXLAN overlays
Dual-Cloud Dual-Hub DMVPN
Firewall IPS/IDS
AAA platforms (ISE)
Configure TRL crypto devices and manage key material.
Design and optimise QoS (shaping, policing, scheduling, congestion control).
Support system testing and resolve network incidents.
Essential Skills & Experience 3+ years hands-on experience with:
IP subnetting
OSPF/BGP
Enterprise routing, switching and firewalls
Cisco Nexus & IOS XE
Leaf-and-Spine
VXLAN
Dual-Hub DMVPN
IPS/IDS
AAA/ISE
TRL crypto & key management
Full QoS configuration
Recent professional certification (CCNP, VCP-NV).
Strong communication, analytical and problem-solving skills.
Active SC clearance.
Competent with Microsoft Office.
Desirable Experience in secure/regulated public-sector environments.
Defence network and secure gateway support.
Delivery of accredited secure solutions.
Agile/Waterfall delivery experience.
Exposure to large-scale virtualisation.
JIRA/Confluence familiarity.
Relevant technical degree.
Secure multi-tenant architecture design.
Chartered Engineer or working toward it.
