This is more than just a kitchen lead position - it's a chance to take real ownership of a kitchen that celebrates local produce and home-style cooking. You'll lead a small, passionate team and have the freedom to design menus that showcase seasonal ingredients, including produce from our onsite bakery, butchers as well as a plethora of local farm fresh suppliers. With a focus on quality over quantity, you'll be creating dishes that truly reflect the heart of our community.
What Makes This Role Different?Unlike many chef roles, this position offers work-life balance with sociable hours (8:30 AM - 4:30 PM) and no late nights. You'll have the creativity to shape menus, introduce specials, and champion local suppliers-while still having time for life outside the kitchen.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and inspire a close-knit kitchen team with a calm, hands-on approach.
* Create seasonal menus and weekly specials that celebrate fresh, local ingredients.
* Oversee daily kitchen operations: stock, ordering, prep, and compliance.
* Maintain the highest standards of food safety and hygiene.
* Work collaboratively with the front-of-house team to deliver a seamless guest experience.
What We're Looking For
* Proven experience as a Head Chef-or an ambitious Sous Chef ready to step up.
* A passion for casual dining and home-style, farmhouse-inspired cooking.
* Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and mentor a small team.
* Excellent organisation and attention to detail.
* Food hygiene qualification (Level 2 or 3 preferred).
* A positive, proactive attitude and genuine passion for food.
What We Offer
* A competitive salary (£28,000–£35,000, depending on experience).
* Sociable hours - no late nights, better work-life balance.
* Real creative input into menus, specials, and kitchen development.
* The chance to work with our onsite bakery and butchers, plus trusted local suppliers.
* Staff discounts on food and drink.
* Supportive, friendly team in a popular, community-focused venue.
* Free on-site parking and regular company events.
