Overview We are seeking a General Practitioner to join our Southend-on-Sea Community Addictions Service. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified professional who is passionate about improving addiction treatment and supporting multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality care.
The ideal candidate will be one of the following:
A Consultant Psychiatrist (with a substance misuse endorsement), or
A GP with a Special Interest in Addictions, or
A Specialist Addiction Doctor with relevant experience.
Key Responsibilities Clinical Leadership Take overall clinical responsibility for patient care.
Lead monthly patient review meetings and attend daily team briefings.
Deliver clinical sessions across Essex.
Ensure the delivery of high-quality, recovery-focused treatment in line with best practice.
Team Collaboration & Development Work closely with the Operations Manager to enhance service delivery.
Provide guidance and support to multidisciplinary teams.
Offer clinical supervision and contribute to staff training and development.
Governance & Quality Assurance Participate in clinical audits, governance activities, and quality improvement initiatives.
Support service evaluation and innovation projects.
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and professional standards.

What Were Looking For Essential MRCPsych or an equivalent international qualification
Registration on the GMC Specialist Register (or GP Register with experience in addictions)
RCGP certification in the management of drug misuse (Parts 1 & 2)
Proven experience in addiction medicine
