Summary of Role & Key Responsibilities
Summary of Role
We are looking for a highly motivated early career professional, either a recent graduate (with a relevant environmental/ sustainability focused degree) or a candidate with a 1-2 years relevant experience who is looking to further their career in sustainability. The successful candidate will join Anthesis’ Sustainable Products, Packaging and Circularity practice and will work across our Packaging and Resource Recovery and Waste teams.
Anthesis’ SPPC Practice operates across the private, not for profit, and public sectors with a focus on the full product and packaging life cycle from raw materials to consumption and end of life waste-to-value models. The team supports clients to understand and take action to reduce the environmental impact of packaging and waste, to analyse the waste market and increase the circular use of materials in the UK and EU. We apply our in-depth knowledge of policy and regulation, infrastructure, data analytics and commercial aspects to build robust, future proof strategies that can be implemented across our clients’ organisations.
The successful candidate, will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects with a variety of clients, including:
* Value chain and market assessments for clients wishing to establish more circular routes for waste material streams;
* Food loss and waste calculation and reporting for retailers and manufacturing clients in the food and beverage sector;
* Packaging and waste footprinting working with FMCG, retailers and other large multinational corporations.
* Packaging, circular economy, waste prevention and management strategies for FMCG, retailers and other large multinational corporations.
* Waste auditing and compliance reviews for FMCG, retailers and other large multinational corporations.
* Investigating sustainable material alternatives and circular solutions for packaging.
There is also opportunity for you to build on our existing service offerings, bringing your own personal experiences and expertise to our team to help strengthen our ability to deliver robust and impactful projects to our clients. Encouraging our colleagues to personally grow whilst delivering impact is one of our key aims within the SPPC Team.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be given the responsibility to deliver specific tasks within these projects and be required to contribute to the development of new business. Key responsibilities will include:
* Project delivery tasks, which may include:
1. Desk-based research;
2. Stakeholder engagement and interviews;
3. Facilitation of client meetings, workshops, presentations;
4. Data management, manipulation, modelling, analysis and analytics;
5. Report writing (including generation of graphics, in PowerPoint predominantly).
* Business development: contribute to proposals, help manage client relationships and contribute to the development of strategies and new service offers.
* Project management: you may have the opportunity to manage some smaller scale projects;
* Contribute to the development of Anthesis’ thought leadership, services, products, marketing materials and offerings.
Key Requirements, Skills Knowledge & Expertise
Key Requirements
Must haves:
* Environmental/sustainability degree, STEM degree or equivalent practical experience
* Strong literacy skills, comfortable with research and report writing
* Strong numerical skills, comfortable working in Excel
* Collaborative team player who brings a positive attitude
* Effective communicator, with ability to manage stakeholder relationships
* Entrepreneurial spirit with an ambition to learn
* Effective time management and organisational skills with the ability to respond positively to pressure and take a flexible approach to a dynamic and fast-moving work environment
Desirables
* 1-2 years of relevant experience, ideally including consultancy experience or other relevant industry positions
* Working knowledge of aspects of the sustainable packaging, products, circular economy and waste and resource management field.
* Understanding of packaging, UK waste and recycling data
* An understanding of waste / product related LCA
* Advanced data analysis skills e.g. advanced Excel, Alteryx or similar data analysis software
