Specialist Cardiac Physiologist/ Healthcare Scientist
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our small,friendly team at Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust. We are seeking anenthusiastic, highly motivated and knowledgeable Cardiac Physiologist toprovide excellent care across the full range of cardiac investigations.The Cardiac Physiology Service at Rotherham is evolving and requires flexibleand forward thinking staff. The successful applicant will have excellentcommunication and organisational skills and work autonomously.
We are seeking a fully qualified Cardiac Physiologist/ Healthcare Scientistwith a broad range of expertise across a wide range of cardiac investigations.The successful candidate will perform a range of invasive and/or non-invasivediagnostics autonomously in a wide range of clinical settings.Due to the nature of invasive work, sessions may run beyond routine workinghours and you must demonstrate flexibility and commitment to cover these lists.You will be expected to assist in device follow-up clinics.
Applicants must have completed, or be in the final 6 months of acquiring PTP,STP or equivalent qualifications and have appropriate clinical experience.RCCP/HCPC registration is essential within 3 months in post.

Main duties of the job
Specialist Cardiac Physiologist within the CardiacPhysiology Service. Please see attached JD/ PS for more detail.
Performs and reports a wide range of routine and specialisedcardiac investigations, under the guidance of the Service Lead. Maintains andfurther develops knowledge and skills. Supervises junior physiologists,students and cardiographers.
To undertake a wide range of invasive and non-invasivecardiac investigations independently, tailored to job role: to include but notexclusive to:
* Physiologist and Doctor-Led exercise stress tests
* Physiologist-Led Tilt Table Tests
* Left and right heart cardiac catheterisation
* Routine pacemaker implantation
* Assists (secondpractitioner) in all types of Cardiac Device Clinic
* Open access GP ECG and 24 hour ECG monitor reporting service
* Ambulatory ECG/ BP hook up and Analysis
* Basic Echocardiography
To work flexibly in accordance with the department needs. Thismay involve changing working days or shift duration to cover clinical work. Thedepartment is working towards a 7-day service. There may be a requirement towork in a community setting in the future.
To work as part of a multi-disciplinary team for the benefitof patient care. The nature of the job role means that clinical lists may runbeyond standard session duration, particularly (but not exclusive to) theCardiac Catheterisation Lab. The post holder must be flexible to extend shiftduration to cover clinical work.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Completion of Practitioner Training Programme (PTP), Scientist Training Programme (STP) or equivalent (e.g. BSc in Clinical Physiology or HTEC MPPM with SCST Parts I and II)
* HCPC/AHCS/RCCP professional registration (or equivalent)
* Evidence of up to date resuscitation certification including manual defibrillation.
Experience
* Experience of performing and reporting a range of routine non-invasive cardiac investigations independently
* Experience of working unsupervised in left and right heart Cardiac Catheterisation
* Evidence of up-to-date CPD within Cardiology
* Experience of more advanced cardiac procedures such as echocardiography or cardiac device implantation and follow-up
Knowledge
* Up-to-date degree level knowledge of a range of invasive and non-invasive cardiac physiology investigations
* Knowledge of left and right heart Cardiac Catheterisation
* Knowledge of professional standards in keeping with professional registration (e.g. RCCP/ HCPC/ AHCS)
* Knowledge of NHS Policies, practices and procedures including clinical governance
* Knowledge of more advanced cardiac procedures such as cardiac device implantation and follow-up/ or echocardiography (as appropriate to role)
