FAFS Fire & Security, a specialist business within Marlowe Fire and Security Group, are seeking a skilled and dedicated Fire Systems Service engineer who has specific experience in Public Address Voice Alarm (PAVA) to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of Public Address and Voice Alarm (PAVA) systems across various facilities as well as Fire Systems. The role requires a proactive approach to ensuring that systems are functioning optimally, compliant with safety standards, and capable of delivering clear and effective communication during emergencies.
Role Responsibilities
* Maintenance & Repairs: Perform routine maintenance, testing, and repairs on Public Address and Voice Alarm (PAVA) systems and Fire Systems to ensure operational efficiency.
* System Installation & Upgrades: Install and upgrade Fire and PA/VA systems, including speakers, amplifiers, microphones, control panels, and any associated components.
* Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve faults within PAVA systems, both in the field and remotely, ensuring minimal downtime.
* Compliance & Safety: Ensure that all systems are compliant with relevant health and safety regulations, including fire and evacuation requirements.
* System Testing: Regularly test systems to confirm correct operation, including checks for clear sound output, audio quality, and integration with fire alarm systems.
* Documentation: Maintain accurate service records, including test logs, maintenance schedules, and repair histories. Generate reports for management and clients.
* Customer Support: Provide technical support to clients, ensuring satisfaction with system performance. Offer recommendations for improvements and upgrades.
* Training & Guidance: Assist in training staff or clients in the proper operation of PAVA systems and safety procedures.
* Emergency Response: Be available to respond to urgent service requests in the event of system failures, ensuring that all public safety communication remains intact.
o Experience: Proven experience in the maintenance, installation, and repair of PAVA or similar sound systems (fire alarm systems, PA systems, etc.) as well as Fire Systems.
o Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of electrical systems, audio equipment, and relevant software tools used in PAVA systems.
o Certifications: Relevant qualifications in electrical engineering, sound engineering, or similar disciplines (e.g., City & Guilds, NVQ, or equivalent).
o Problem Solving: Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills with a methodical approach to troubleshooting.
o Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact effectively with clients and team members.
o Attention to Detail: A keen eye for detail and precision, ensuring systems meet safety standards and regulatory requirements.
o Health & Safety Knowledge: Understanding of health and safety standards related to electrical systems and public address systems.
o Availability: Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and on-call, for emergency maintenance.
o Preferred Skills:
+ Experience with digital audio systems and IP-based communication technologies.
+ Knowledge of fire safety regulations and experience working in fire alarm integration.
+ Ability to perform remote diagnostics and offer client support via phone or email.
