Project Engineer – Retro Fit Team
The Project Engineer will work as a member of the Retro Fit team to manage and provide the necessary engineering detail so that our solutions can be built safely, to all relevant standards and cost effectively. Project Engineers work on multiple projects with a value from £50k up to £5 million and will ensure the development of engineered solutions from customer commitment through implementation and handover.
Location: Market Harborough, England, United Kingdom. The role is based out of our Market Harborough office and will be expected to travel regularly to sites across Northern Europe.
Responsibilities
* Translate customer request into a design solution with support from the Project Engineering Team Leader and others.
* Review design operational feasibility.
* Review Material Flow Diagram in conjunction with the Simulation department.
* Conduct value engineering of solutions.
* Prepare appropriate system layouts to meet customer requirements.
* Develop site mechanical installation packs.
* Produce detailed specifications and design documents needed for production.
* Review equipment design and specifications to ensure standardisation across all projects.
* Analyse equipment throughputs and capacities with the Simulation department.
* Prepare the project technical summary.
* Draft technical specifications for third‑party equipment.
* Analyse third‑party equipment quotations.
* Develop design risk assessments and ensure compliance with current legislation.
* Participate in regular design team reviews and prepare adequate minutes.
* Attend project review meetings.
* Survey sites and installations.
* Manage general project documentation.
* Assist in preparing H&S files and technical files. Use MS Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Project, Visio, Outlook) and CAD Software (AutoCAD, Sketch‑Up, Navisworks, Trimble).
* Ensure the appropriate TGW equipment is used (technical detail engineering).
* Provide technical support to the sales team and attend customer meetings as required.
* Understand local authority regulations.
* Design to CE norms and legislative standards.
* Identify add‑value opportunities.
* Work collaboratively, supporting and integrating with other TGW colleagues and departments.
* Maintain and develop departmental processes to continually improve efficiency.
* Identify cost‑saving opportunities for TGW.
Essential Qualifications
* Previous experience in a Project Engineering role within an automated materials handling environment.
* Skilled in setting up a design in AutoCAD and performing material cost calculation.
* Experience in providing management information to customers and TGW management.
* Experience as part of technical engineering and/or concept sales teams.
* Willingness to travel within the UK and Northern Europe for client meetings and other TGW entities.
Desirable Qualifications
* Experience working with SLA agreements with supplying partners.
