About the role As a Senior Social Worker within the Northwest Assessment Team (based in Woking), you'll hold professional responsibility for a complex caseload. Your work will focus on carrying out timely, proportionate assessments and interventions that safeguard children and promote positive outcomes. You'll be part of a duty rota where duty is every four weeks, with an average caseload of 18-20 children - a manageable load that allows you to do quality work. During duty weeks, you'll be based in the office full-time, otherwise you'll work in a hybrid pattern, typically spending two days per week in the office. You'll also play a key role in supporting the development of less experienced social workers, NQSWs and students, through supervision, mentoring, and sharing your expertise. Key Responsibilities Take the lead in managing complex child protection and safeguarding cases. Use your professional judgement to complete proportionate assessments and deliver tailored interventions. Support children, families and carers through challenging and fluctuating circumstances. Mentor and supervise NQSWs and students; contribute to reflective supervision and team learning. Promote best practice and help shape a strong team culture through shared knowledge and experience. What we're looking for Social Work England registered with a recognised qualification in Social Work. Strong experience working within children's services, including complex safeguarding cases. Skilled in risk assessment, decision-making, and building strong relationships under pressure. A positive, proactive and emotionally intelligent team player who can lead and mentor others. Adaptable and resilient, with the ability to work under pressure and meet statutory deadlines.
