Deputy Manager – Children’s Therapeutic Residential Home

To support the Registered Manager in the day-to-day running of the children’s home, ensuring high standards of care, safeguarding, and compliance with all relevant legislation. The Deputy Manager will lead shifts, supervise staff, and play a key role in developing a safe, nurturing, and therapeutic environment for children and young people.
Key Responsibilities:
· Operational Support:
· Assist the Registered Manager in managing the home in accordance with Ofsted regulations and the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015.
· Act as the lead in the absence of the Registered Manager, including being part of the on-call rota.
· Monitor the daily running of the home, ensuring shift plans, rotas, and staffing are in place.
Leadership & Supervision:
· Supervise and support care staff, including conducting regular supervisions and contributing to appraisals.
· Role-model therapeutic care practices and support staff with behaviour management and de-escalation strategies.
· Promote a positive team culture focused on child-centred care.
Child Care & Safeguarding:
· Ensure care plans, risk assessments, and behaviour management plans are in place and followed.
· Lead on safeguarding concerns and referrals in the absence of the manager.
· Advocate for children’s rights and support their development, education, and emotional well-being.
Compliance & Quality:
· Assist in audits, inspections, and preparation for Ofsted visits.
· Maintain accurate records in line with regulatory and organisational policies.
· Contribute to continuous improvement and quality assurance within the home.
