Civil Asset Protection Engineer – Network Rail

A well‑established Network Rail subcontractor is looking for an experienced Civil Asset Protection Engineer to join their growing team on a long‑term contract. This is a fantastic opportunity for an engineer with strong knowledge of Network Rail assets, standards, and ASPRO processes to play a key role in safeguarding the railway infrastructure across major infrastructure schemes.
About the Role
You’ll be responsible for ensuring third‑party works near the railway are designed and delivered safely, compliantly, and in line with Network Rail standards. Working closely with ASPRO, project managers, designers, and contractors, you’ll provide engineering assurance, technical advice, and oversight throughout the project lifecycle.
This role offers a blend of office‑based collaboration in York and flexible hybrid working, perfect for someone seeking long‑term stability within the rail sector.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide civil engineering assurance for works affecting Network Rail assets.
* Review technical documents, designs, method statements, and risk assessments.
* Liaise with ASPRO teams, project stakeholders, and external developers.
* Ensure compliance with Network Rail standards, procedures, and governance.
* Support the safe planning and execution of works near/adjacent to the operational railway.
* Conduct site visits where required to verify engineering controls and protection measures.
Requirements
Based within commuting distance of York (hybrid working available)
Available to start within the next two weeks
Strong understanding of Network Rail systems, processes, and documentation
Knowledge of ASPRO requirements and railway Engineering Standards
Background in Civil Engineering within a rail‑related environment
Confident reviewing and challenging engineering deliverables
