Waking nights - children's mental health home

Hastings
SuperCare Residential
Posted: 22 August
Offer description

Joining SuperCare's first EBD/SEMH home means being part of a team setting the foundations for something new and vital. The young people here are at risk of going missing and may plan escapes during the night, or struggle with self-harm. They may also want to talk about their past experiences - including very difficult or unsettling memories - and it's your role to be there, steady and compassionate, when they do. At the same time, you'll be ensuring the home is safe, routines are consistent, and the young people are supported through the night.

What You'll Do:

As a Night Coach, you'll focus on safety, stability, and listening:

*
Monitor and support young people at risk of going missing or self-harming during the night.
*
Provide reassurance and respond quickly if a child is distressed.
*
Listen to young people when they want to talk about their past or worries.
*
Carry out safety checks and follow safeguarding or missing-from-home procedures.
*
Keep accurate night logs and hand over to the day team.
*
Drive if required for emergencies or safeguarding reasons (full UK licence needed).

What We're Looking For:

This role needs people who are both vigilant and caring:

*
Experience supporting young people with self-harm, trauma, or exploitation.
*
Training or willingness to train in ligature response, safeguarding, and mental health first aid.
*
Resilient when hearing difficult or unsettling disclosures.
*
Physically able to act quickly if a child attempts to go missing.
*
Calm, steady, and professional through long night shifts.
*
Must hold a full UK driving licence.

Benefits Working at SuperCare:

We'll ensure your efforts on nights are fully supported:

*
Salary 20% above sector average.
*
36 days of in-person training annually.
*
Fully funded Level 3 Diploma in Children's Care.
*
Private healthcare and GP access around the clock.
*
Gym stipend and wellbeing package.
*
Pension and bonus scheme.
*
Free parking and communal vehicles.
*
Progression into Senior Night Coach roles.
