Overview
Location: West Dorset/East Sommerset (Field Based). Role: VodafoneThree - Field Engineer at Vodafone. Salary: Excellent basic salary plus bonus and Vodafone benefits. Working hours: Full time 37.5 hours per week – Monday to Friday. Candidates must hold SC Clearance or be eligible for SC Clearance; to be eligible, candidates must demonstrate residency in the UK for the past 5 years.
What You’ll Do
As a Climbing Technician, you will play an integral part of the Field Engineering team. You will work to perform installation and maintenance activities in support of the fixed and mobile networks, as well as business solutions. You will install, commission and maintain our network, products and services to agreed standards and service levels without compromising safe working practices.
* Be part of the Field Engineering team, performing installation activities in support of our networks at both core and customer sites, and carrying out low complexity assurance activity on both the mobile and fixed estates.
* Provide support to experienced Field Engineers where required whilst developing skillset and potential
* Regular climbing of our extensive fixed and mobile infrastructure is essential, with health assessments to ensure safety
* Adherence to quality and H&S standards and achieving agreed performance targets
* Flexible approach to working hours and willingness to travel as required to meet business needs
* May be required to work an out-of-hours pre-planned works rota in alignment with the Operating Unit; not on-call
* Rooftop based working including use of ladders up to 3 metres; regular health assessments for safety
* Physical role involving manual lifting, climbing stairs, walking and being on your feet for extended periods, in both indoor and outdoor environments
Who You Are
* Hands on experience with telecommunications equipment including:
o Core transmission technologies (e.g., DWDM and Ethernet)
o Fibre and copper cabling and termination
o Multi-Vendor CPE and Unified Communications
o Mobile networking technologies (3G/4G/5G) and associated equipment
o Microwave Radio
* Ability to achieve and maintain Advanced Climber / Tower Rescue Certification and pass health assessments per MATS guidance
* Ability to work effectively both in a team and on your own
* Excellent customer-facing skills
* Ability to work in a focused manner under pressure to meet tight deadlines and manage own workload
* Adaptability and the ability to learn new skills quickly
* Valid/full UK/EU driving license (Category B)
