Job Description

New Directions Education is currently recruiting a Trainee Teaching Assistant to work on a one-to-one basis with a child in Reception at a welcoming and inclusive mainstream primary school in Bootle.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to begin a career in education while making a meaningful difference in the early development of a young child.

About the Role:

1. Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a child in Reception who requires additional help with learning, communication, or social interaction.
2. Support the child throughout the school day, helping them to settle into the classroom routine and engage with Early Years activities.
3. Encourage the child’s confidence, independence, and emotional wellbeing through patient, consistent support.
4. Work closely with the class teacher, SENCo, and other staff to follow tailored strategies that meet the child’s individual needs.
5. Assist with basic personal care if required (e.g. toileting or handwashing), with guidance and support provided.

Who We’re Looking For:

8. A caring, patient, and enthusiastic individual with a genuine interest in working with young children.
9. No classroom experience is required – this role is ideal for someone with experience in care, early years, youth work, or similar settings.
10. Willing to learn, take direction, and work as part of a team.
11. Must be willing to undergo an enhanced DBS check and provide employment references from the last five years.
