Overview of Role:


We are currently recruiting Quantity Surveyor's to join a client focused team within the Thames Valley office. This is an exciting opportunity for a high calibre individual to join and strengthen our Cost Management team.


This role presents an excellent opportunity for a proactive individual to take responsibility for providing all core Quantity Surveying services on a number of interesting projects, for a number of clients across a variety of sectors.


Key Responsibilities:


1. The individual will be an integral part of a team that is accountable for the commercial and contractual performance of a project
2. To support business objectives of delivering value for money in all circumstances
3. To carry out assigned duties efficiently and in accordance with processes and procedures
4. Comply with established commercial/procurement/ contractual strategies
5. Take personal responsibility for complying with Environmental, Health, Safety, Security and Quality Standards
6. Individually or as part of a team operate processes for the selection, appointment and management of construction and engineering contractors

Cost Planning including:


7. Preparation of indicative cost budgets and appraisals
8. Preparation of elemental cost plans
9. Provide advice and opinion in respect of our client development plans and expectations
10. Value engineering studies

Procurement including:


11. Providing advice on procurement strategy
12. Assembling and seeking agreement to long and short tender lists
13. Preparing and issuing tender documents.
14. Running a competitive tender process including managing queries from tendering contractors
15. Managing and contributing to structured and documented tender evaluations
16. Preparation of Contract Recommendation Reports
17. Preparation of contract documents
18. Complaint tenders

Post Contract Quantity Surveying including:


19. Scrutinising and verifying applications for interim payments
20. Preparing certificates
21. Managing change control in accordance with contracts
22. Producing cost reports and cost forecasting
23. Assisting Project Managers in preparing Early Warnings, Instructions and Compensation Events
24. Attending progress meetings
25. Promote commercial awareness throughout project Support formal dispute resolution process and contract close out strategy as required
26. Advising and liaising with internal project and cost control team
27. Developing Commercial Strategies
28. Developing Acquisition Strategies

Person Specification:

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a positive proactive approach to the role, and will be committed to delivering customer service excellence, with good commercial results.


29. Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or similar technical discipline
30. Strong technical delivery experience
31. Ability to successfully manage complex projects in a proactive and diligent manner
32. Strong Feasibility and cost planning experience
33. Experience of providing procurement advice, tender documentation and post contract services
34. Experience in Pharma, Science or Healthcare sectors is desirable
35. Client facing, ensuring a high standard of technical delivery
36. Able to build long-term relationships
37. Previously employed by a consultancy or end user client
38. Stakeholder management with a clear focus on developing client accounts
39. A track record of working with teams and managing projects by prioritising workloads and delivering deadlines
40. A team player, outgoing, flexible, enthusiastic and ambitious
