The Defence UK Operations Centre provides quick reaction technical support to a world-wide customer base of Rolls-Royce engines, including key operators such as the RAF Red Arrows, Typhoon QRFs and the US Navy fighter pilot training fleet. Alongside MR&O plants in the UK, Europe and USA.
The department is comprised of several teams, including Service Delivery Leaders, Service Operations Officers and Lifecycle Engineers.
In this role, you will lead the Lifecycle Engineering team within the Defence UK Operations Centre to provide customer facing Engineering support. You will work with the Head of the Defence UK Operations Centre to keep our customers flying safely through responsive resolution of queries, sentencing of in-service deviations both in the customer base and in our MRO facilities, and being the first point of contact for all of our supported customers.
What you will be doing:
* To manage the support coverage and availability of the Defence UK Operations Centre LifeCycle Engineering team, including working patterns, shift coverage, and availability to enable on-time delivery closure of urgent tasks.
* To be accountable for the overall quality of all in-service arising technical assessments and solutions within the Defence UK Operations Centre, and to be responsible for the quality of the inputs from the supporting technical specialist teams.
* To ensure the technical competence, professional development of the team (including signatory delegations)
* To serve as the Deputy Chair of the Defence UK Major Events Committee (MEC), which is an on-call requirement when requested, which may include weekends and bank holidays, as well as to serve as the Deputy Head of the Defence UK Operations Centre.
Position qualifications:
* Qualified to at least degree level or equivalent industry experience
* Member of a professional body and working towards a Registered Project Professional (RPP) qualification or equivalent.
Preferred requirements:
* A track record of delivery in a fast pace and high-pressured environment.
* Experience of leading Engineering teams to deliver to the right quality, and on time
* Experience of working with customers and partner companies, to maintain a positive working relationship
* A working knowledge of the in-service defect or deviations processes (DDR, RDR, TV, TQ) is highly desirable
