We’re exited to offer an opportunity for a Band 7 Schools In-Reach Team Lead to join our forward-thinking and supportive service. This role sits within the wider leadership and management structure of the CAMHS Early Intervention Prevention and Promotion (EIPP) services in Gwynedd and Mon. It is pivotal in bridging the gap between schools and specialist services, working in partnership with education staff and the ‘whole system’ to promote early identification, prevention, and intervention for children and young people experiencing emotional or mental health challenges.

This role offers an opportunity to directly shape and grow the evolving Schools In-Reach service and therefore we are seeking a qualified professional with excellent leadership abilities and managerial skills who has significant post-qualification experience. Commitment to service improvement and transformation is key to this role.

Welsh language fluency is essential for this post.

Main duties of the job

If you are passionate about working in early intervention, wanting to promote mental health and wellbeing for staff and learners and would like to offer your leadership skills and clinical experience to this exciting new role.

The ability to drive/travel across the two counties is essential and on occasions across the North Wales region. The ability to speak Welsh is essential for this post and would be an advantage when working alongside schools within the Gwynedd and Mon areas. Please note if you are unable to work full time, alternative working patterns will be considered. Please note this post is predominately working with adults, working indirectly with children through the provision of consultation, and building the capacity of education staff to respond to the emerging mental health needs of children and young people, a knowledge and/or experience of working with people across the life span would be advantage.

The ability to speak Welsh is essential for this post.

Qualifications

Essential criteria


* Registered Mental Health Nurse or Registered Nurse Learning Disabilities or Registered Occupational Therapist or Registered Social Worker or Registered experience Neurodevelopmental Practitioner with a recognised body
* Post-registration / accreditation training in evidence-based psychological therapies (e.g. CBT, Systemic therapy, solution-focused therapy, etc.)
* Evidence of continuous Professional Development relevant to the mental health and wellbeing of children and young people
* Professional qualifications and skills must complement the multi-disciplinary and skill mix of the Team

Desirable criteria

* Training in providing clinical supervision
* Evidence of advanced training in psychological interventions / therapy and accreditation with appropriate body

Experience

Essential criteria

* Substantial experience of working in mental health services for children and young people
* Experience of supervising and developing other staff
* Experience of meeting agreed/specified service targets
* Substantial experience of managing own caseload and time and of working highly independently
* Experience of providing consultation, training, supervision to a range of staff groups in order to build capacity in the system
* Demonstrates high standards in all forms of communication
* Experience of leading change or new initiatives or other service development
* Evidence of supporting daily living, community networking, health promotion and an understanding of the Recovery Model

Desirable criteria

* Experience of working in an Education setting
* Experience of organising and facilitating psycho-education to groups of services users
* Experience of providing mental health support to people in a range of service contexts
* Experience working in a stepped care service for common mental health problems

Skills

Essential criteria

* Excellent communication skills in order to work closely with a wide range of professional groups in a wide range of settings, communicating in a way that is informed by local service issues, theoretical knowledge and an understanding of the training of those professionals and strengths / deficits in their knowledge
* Highly developed interpersonal skills in order to persuade, negotiate with and motivate parents and professionals in helping them to understand and support child mental health issues.
* Knowledge and skills necessary to support a range of professionals to work with children and young people in a way that is formulation-driven, evidence-based, structured and effective
* Ability to interpret complex facts and situations requiring analysis and an understanding of a range of options available
* Strong planning and organisational skills necessary to promote inter-agency partnership working
* The capacity to deliver psychological therapies in individual, family and group formats, incorporating a range of skills to meet a broad spectrum of presenting issues
* Ability to adapt approach according to the needs, values, capacities, social context and resources of children, young people Ability to speak Welsh 14 and their families
* Ability to undertake clinical risk assessment and act appropriately on the basis of this
* Ability to develop and maintain good therapeutic relationships with clients
* Ability to work within a team and across agencies, developing excellent working relationships and a professional partnership approach to achieve best outcomes

* Ability to provide information, guidance and advice about mental health issues to service users, carers and a wide range of Tier One professionals

Knowledge

Essential Criteria

* Highly developed specialist knowledge including theoretical knowledge both of ‘normal’ child development and of children’s and young peoples’ mental health, across the full spectrum of mental health issues
* Knowledge of adult mental health issues and in particular an understanding of how these may impact on parenting and caring for children and young people.
* Knowledge of Safeguarding legislation and procedures for children, young people and vulnerable adults.
* Knowledge of the national and local strategic context relevant to children’s and young peoples’ mental health including relevant legislation.
* Understanding of and a commitment to the use of recovery focussed models of care and support in mental health.
* Understanding of and a commitment to values underpinning the provision of mental health and wellbeing services in primary care.
* Knowledge and understanding of the stigma and discrimination that can sometimes be experienced by individuals suffering mental health problems, older adults and people with learning disabilities, and shows a commitment to challenging all discriminatory beliefs and behaviour.
