Cordwallis Reading (HGV) are looking for an organised and process driven Workshop Controller to run an extremely busy HGV workshop. You must be able to think on your feet reacting quickly to any technical challenge that should arise. Supporting the Service Manager, knowledge in H&S systems, processes and practices are a must for this role.
The Workshop Controller must possess excellent communication skills - both to the technicians and providing relevant and clear information to the Service Team to pass back to Customers.

On Target Realistic Earnings (OTE) – up to £49,000 per annum (DOE)
* Basic Salary up to £43,000+ depending on your experience to date (both technical and soft skills)
* Basic hours are 41 per week
* Monday to Friday typically 8am - 5pm (60 min unpaid break) plus 1 in 4 Sat mornings (usually the last of the month) (8.00am to 12 Noon)
* Bonus up to £6,000 per annum available on reaching targets (These are based on achievement of our Manufacturer Scorecard KPIs and Labour Sales)
Responsibilities
* Maximising Gross Profit: To deliver gross profit in line with the business plan by maximising the number of hours sold, driving revenue per transaction through selling value, ensuring 100% adherence to the VHC process and maximise product sales.
* Workshop Loading: To distribute and control the issue of work to the Technicians to maximise quality, Productivity and overall efficiency. Maintain regular contact with front of house and bookings team in regards to available workshop hours.
* Communication: Proactive and accurate communication between Technicians, Front of house, Parts team, Warranty team and Customers.
* The team: To lead, motivate, coach and develop the team to achieve their daily / weekly / monthly and yearly objectives. Identify individual and team training needs and through liaising with the Group Technical Manager, ensure all training pathways are completed timely. Authorise and manage workshop team annual leave requests to ensure sufficient cover is available.
* Tooling & Calibrations: Maintaining workshop equipment – including arranging calibrations of tooling & equipment, ramps etc. Carry out regular tooling checks – including locating new tooling received from the manufacturer, updating Tools Infoweb and checking for new mandatory tooling required for audit purposes.
* Parts Liaison: To ensure a strong relationship is maintained with the parts department to maximise parts availability. Ensure that all displaced parts are immediately and clearly identified and placed in quarantine areas.
* Documentation Quality: To ensure the accurate completion of all relevant documentation for each repair.
* Manufacturer Warranty Standards: To ensure that the manufacturers warranty standards are adhered to at all times.
* Customer Satisfaction (CSAT): To assist management in implementing and maintaining effective processes to achieve the highest possible customer satisfaction levels in excess of VWCV’s national average.
* Health & Safety: To ensure that a safe working environment is maintained in line with the Company’s Health & Safety policy and that general housekeeping and appearance are maintained at a high standard. Manage all areas of Workshop H&S – including visits by contractors, quality checking and rectification of defects. Immediately reporting any defect or deficiency to the Service Manager.
* Audit Standards: Ensure workshop documentation for Equipment and Tools are in line with ISO & Brand standards. Maintain the workshop to audit standard with regards to cleanliness and appearance.
* Additional Expectations: You may be required to undertake other tasks as reasonably required. This may include liaising with customers, working outside normal hours and covering duties within the service administration department, this list is not exhaustive.
