Were now looking for a skilled and motivated Commercial HVAC Engineer to join our growing team.
The Role
As a Commercial HVAC Engineer, you will be responsible for the installation, servicing, maintenance, and repair of HVAC systems across a variety of commercial environments including offices, schools, hospitals, retail units, and industrial facilities.
This is a hands-on, field-based role requiring strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Install, repair, and maintain plumbing and HVAC systems, including pipes, fixtures, drainage systems, boilers, water heaters, fire suppression systems, air conditioning, ventilation, and heating equipment.
Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.
Diagnose faults, plumbing issues, or HVAC malfunctions, and implement effective solutions.
Install and test safety devices such as backflow prevention systems.
Conduct routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and emergency repairs.
Ensure all work complies with current building codes, regulations, health and safety standards, and company procedures.
Complete service reports, job sheets, and compliance documentation.
Work collaboratively with other construction professionals, site managers, and clients.
Maintain tools, equipment, and company vehicles in a safe and effective condition.
Respond efficiently and professionally to emergency callouts.
Participate in ongoing training and professional development.
Essential Requirements
Minimum 5 years experience in commercial plumbing or HVAC engineering.
Relevant industry-specific plumbing or HVAC certifications (including F-Gas for HVAC).
Strong knowledge of plumbing and HVAC systems, controls, and technical diagrams.
Proficiency with tools and equipment (pipe cutters, threaders, welding torches, HVAC diagnostic tools).
Full driving licence.
Strong understanding of health and safety regulations.
Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Physical stamina for manual work, including lifting, climbing, and working in confined spaces.
Good communication and customer service skills.
Desirable Requirements
Experience with specialised commercial systems (BMS, boilers, water heaters, fire suppression, air conditioning).
CSCS card or equivalent site safety certification.
IOSH/NEBOSH Health & Safety qualification.
Manufacturer-specific HVAC training certifications.
Experience working in healthcare, education, industrial, or other commercial environments.
