Job Overview
We are recruiting for a PCB Engineer to collaborate on the Global Combat Air Program (GCAP).
You’ll work on cutting‑edge PCB designs across a variety of technologies, including multi‑layer analogue, high‑speed digital, power modules, specialist communications and interfaces operating at ultra‑high frequencies up to 40 GHz and beyond.
Your Impact
* Collaborate with Hardware and Microwave engineers on diverse projects.
* Import schematics, create components and place them.
* Route high‑speed power and mixed‑signal signals, managing thermal performance and electromagnetic compatibility.
* Finalize designs with accurate documentation (Gerbers, assembly drawings, BOMs).
* Leverage the latest Siemens toolchain and comply with defence and industry standards to ensure optimal performance and manufacturability.
* Deliver complex designs while supporting a largely remote working style with occasional trips to Bristol or Luton.
Qualifications
* Proven experience creating complex multi‑layer PCBs with interfaces such as RF, digital, FPGA, power supply and mixed‑signal circuitry.
* Ability to read schematics and design PCBs in accordance with design intent.
* Familiarity with high‑pin‑count parts, high‑speed routing, differential pairs and standard interfaces (SMA, SMP, USB).
* Experience validating design data against supplier capability.
* Skills in producing manufacturing output data packs to company standards.
* Participation in project meetings, advising on PCB design rules, materials and substrate technology.
* Experience liaising with external suppliers, assembly houses and fabricators.
* HNC/HND or relevant degree in Electronic, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing.
Nice to Have
* Experience with RF PCB design or mixed‑signal systems.
* Familiarity with 3‑D modelling and mechanical integration for PCB assemblies.
* Knowledge of power electronics and thermal management.
* Hands‑on experience with PCB manufacturing, testing and/or assembly processes (DFM/DFX).
* Experience with PLM systems for design documentation and version control.
