Role:
1. The post holder will report to the Building, Compliance & People Safety Manager and will be responsible for managing the Water Hygiene & Asbestos safety and repairs function, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.
2. The role involves developing the Water Hygiene & Asbestos service in conjunction with associated service contractors and ensuring that all legislative and regulatory requirements are met across all workstreams.
3. Effective Client management of contractors and consultants applying robust controls in budget and performance monitoring within the Water Hygiene & Asbestos area (including statutory compliance areas).
4. Effective management of contractor invoicing to ensure suppliers submissions are adequately audited and processed within contract deadlines.
5. Support the Repairs Manager in the delivery of the day-to-day demand led repairs service in relation to Water Hygiene & Asbestos.
6. Responsible for close management of compliance relating to Water Hygiene & Asbestos.
7. To ensure legislative and regulatory requirements are met and adhered to across all workstreams.
8. To lead regular Contract Management meetings with contractors.
9. To actively manage the annual budget of approximately £0.5 million ensuring sound financial oversight and scrutiny.
10. To be responsible for managing Contractors including monitoring contractual payments and post work inspecting a proportion of the completed jobs.
11. The post holder managing all risk associated with the services operation area and ensure that all statutory and industry requirements are properly adhered to (e.g. (e.g., Control of Asbestos Regulations, ACOP L8 for Legionella).
About You
12. Either a P405 Management of Asbestos in Buildings or equivalent, or Water hygiene qualifications such as City & Guilds Legionella Control – preferably a qualification in both Asbestos and Water Hygiene.
13. Willingness to participate in further training and development opportunities offered by the Association.
14. Significant experience in managing water hygiene and asbestos compliance within a housing or public sector context.
15. Demonstrable knowledge of relevant legislation and standards (e.g., Control of Asbestos Regulations, ACOP L8 for Legionella).
16. Experience in conducting risk assessments and managing remedial works.
17. Proven experience in contract management and oversight.
18. Technical experience of identifying, specifying, monitoring and quality checking Water Hygiene and/or Asbestos repair activity.
19. Comprehensive understanding of building construction and systems relating to asbestos and/or water hygiene.
20. Ability to manage and control budgets and information systems.
21. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a personal and professional demeanour which commands the confidence other stakeholders.
