Job title: Senior Thematic Adviser, Information Integrity

Purpose Of The Role
This role will provide expert knowledge and technical advice on BBC Media Action’s information integrity projects, supporting the development of new projects in this area and strengthening our reputation for evidence-based practice. As well as this, the role will shape strategy on how BBC Media Action can use media, communication and technology to counter misinformation, enhance digital & media literacy and foster public dialogue about the information environments we live in. The successful candidate will also support external visibility and policy engagement on relevant issues (e.g. the implementation of information integrity frameworks, and the role of AI in shaping information environments).
Your Responsibilities And Impact
* Advisory: Ensuring the best learning, evidence and technical advice on how media and communication can support information integrity and tackle information disorder is made available across the organisation.
* Business Development: Supporting the development of external international donor and other business development relationships on information integrity, exploring and generating business development opportunities.
* Evidence: Working closely with BBC Media Action’s research team to drive the development of an evidence generation strategy sufficient to improve the organisation’s reputation for impact supporting information integrity and tackling information disorder.
* External Policy Engagement: This post supports the organisation’s external evidence-based policy engagement in this field. This will involve building the institutional reputation of the organisation and its influence in deploying its own experience, insight and evidence to inform and help shape donor and development strategies.
Your Skills And Experience
* Proven expertise in designing and implementing projects that use media and communication to support information integrity and counter mis- and disinformation.
* Skilled in tailoring strategies to diverse political and media environments, including those with limited democratic freedoms.
* Strong grasp of policy issues affecting the information integrity landscape.
* Deep understanding of challenges in global majority contexts and among marginalised communities regarding information integrity.
* Experienced in working with diverse, multi-disciplinary teams across geographies to drive impact and mobilise resources.
* Effective communicator with strong writing skills and a commitment to inclusive, equitable approaches.
* Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with sector experts, supported by relevant qualifications or project experience.
Desirable
* Long-term, lived experience of one or more of the contexts in which BBC Media Action works, with in‑depth understanding of the social, cultural or economic challenges faced by our audiences.
* Ability and willingness to travel as required to deliver the job.
Location details
The role will be based in one of BBC Media Action’s offices in Africa or Asia. Current BBC Media Action offices are in the following cities, and the role could be based in any of these, subject to the prevailing security situation at the time of appointment: Abuja, Addis Ababa, Dar Es Salaam, Delhi, Dhaka, Freetown, Hargeisa, Jakarta, Juba, Kabul, Kathmandu, Lusaka, Nairobi, Tunis, or Yangon.
