Job Title
Senior Employment Litigator – 12 Month Fixed Term Contract / Secondment
Role Summary
The role involves handling a complex caseload of employment claims of varying degrees of complexity. You will take initial instructions, provide clear and accurate legal advice, and promptly progress claims in a timely manner, all in line with the client’s legal expenses insurance policy. You will also supervise other employment lawyers within the team, providing support and guidance throughout the litigation process.
Responsibilities
* Act for clients on the full range of employment disputes, managing claims from initial assessment through to final hearing and enforcement where appropriate.
* Provide accurate and clear legal advice, manage clients’ expectations, and explain decisions and steps in the claims process.
* Deliver a professional service to clients by providing timely and accurate advice.
* Apply a consistent approach to assessing the legal merits of claims.
* Record time spent accurately and maintain system records.
* Identify, own and handle the risks involved in running the business in line with relevant risk frameworks, DLG policies and the SRA Code of Conduct.
* Lead your own learning and development needs and opportunities for self‑progression.
* Collaborate with colleagues to build relationships across departments and suppliers, acting as a subject‑matter expert to peers.
* Support the strategic development of departmental methodology, product performance, and customer experience through continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
* At least 3 years’ experience handling a caseload of employment claims.
* Must be a Solicitor, Legal Executive or a Paralegal with relevant experience.
* Deep understanding of employment law and Employment Tribunal procedure is essential.
* Experience with Legal Expenses Insurance‑funded claims is desirable but not essential.
Hours & Working Arrangements
35 hours per week (Mon‑Fri), 9am‑5pm. Hybrid model – you will spend at least two days per week in the office.
