Electrical Commissioning Technician Location: Tyne and Wear (with some travel) Employment Type: Full-time, permanent Salary benchmark around £45,000 per annum We are seeking an experienced and proactive Commissioning Technician (Electrical Bias) to support the delivery and commissioning of complex engineered systems. You will work closely with engineers, project managers, and clients to ensure all electrical systems are installed, tested, and commissioned to the highest standards of safety, functionality, and reliability. This is a hands-on role suited to someone with a strong electrical and controls background, capable of working both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team on-site and in workshop environments. You can expect to support the build of systems as required. Key Responsibilities * Carry out electrical installation, inspection, and testing of control systems and equipment. * Verify that electrical and control systems are built and configured in accordance with design specifications and industry standards. * Diagnose and rectify electrical and instrumentation faults during system commissioning. * Perform functional testing, loop checks, and continuity testing on electrical circuits. * Assist with PLC setup, I/O configuration, and basic programming support. * Ensure electrical drawings and test documentation are correctly completed and updated. * Provide technical support during factory and site acceptance testing (FAT/SAT). * Demonstrate system functionality and provide technical handover to clients. * Support continuous improvement activities and feedback into design and production processes. * Travel globally for on-site commissioning and customer support, including offshore and remote work where required. Skills and Qualifications * HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline. * Time-served electrical technician with proven experience in commissioning of complex electrical systems. * Understanding of control and instrumentation, electrical schematics, and fault-finding techniques. * Competence in the use of electrical test equipment * Experience with mechanical and hydraulic interfaces beneficial. * Offshore survival certification (desirable). * Excellent communication skills and a proactive, solution-focused mindset.
