This is an exciting opportunity to join a newly formed in-house Town and Country Planning team, working on across a diverse portfolio of major capital and infrastructure projects. You will play a key role in ensuring the effective use of permitted development rights and in securing planning consents in line with Town and Country Planning legislation. Key Responsibilities • Deliver small to medium planning consents for capital programmes, managing all related activities. • Work collaboratively within project teams to optimise permitted development opportunities. • Advise and support on all consents required for construction projects. • Contribute to policy, regulatory and strategic advice affecting consents delivery. • Develop and implement planning and consultation strategies for projects. • Partner with the Capital Delivery Communications team on consultation and engagement activities. • Review and assure planning-related deliverables to ensure high quality standards. • Build and maintain strong relationships with local planning authorities and key stakeholders. • Support the Special Projects Consenting Lead on DCOs where required. Skills and Experience • Strong understanding of current and emerging planning legislation, ideally within the water or utilities sector. • Experience within a corporate or regulated environment. • Knowledge of environmental initiatives such as biodiversity net gain. • Excellent analytical, communication and problem-solving skills. • Proven ability to work effectively under pressure and manage competing priorities. • Detailed understanding of the Town and Country Planning Act, General Permitted Development Order, Environmental Impact Assessment Regulations, and Environment Act. • RTPI-accredited MSc (or equivalent) in Town and Country Planning. • Member or working towards full membership of the RTPI.
