Role overview
In partnership with our Home Manager, your role will be to maintain our Home and grounds, ensuring all areas are free from hazards and all equipment and systems are safe and in full working order. You will be a valued member of our team with responsibilities including the maintenance of the exterior of the building and grounds, coordinating and controlling building works and refurbishments with minimal disturbance to residents and staff, and carrying out routine monitoring and repairs on all systems. You will liaise with the Home Manager for specialist repairs and ensure regular tests and checks are carried out and recorded (boilers function checks, fire alarm systems activation, water services and temperature checks).
* Maintain the exterior of the building and grounds to a safe and good standard.
* Coordinate and control building works and refurbishments with minimum disturbance to residents and staff.
* Carry out routine monitoring and repairs on all systems; liaise with the Home Manager for specialist repairs.
* Ensure regular tests and checks are carried out and recorded (boilers function checks, fire alarm systems activation, water services and temperature checks).
* Advise the Home Manager on potential maintenance problems (e.g., heating systems, refrigeration, electrics, gas, and faulty equipment).
* Comply with all aspects of Health & Safety at Work Act (e.g., COSHH) to maintain a safe and healthy working environment; record health and safety checks.
* Ensure safety and cleanliness in the Care Home and grounds to meet Environmental Health, Fire and Safety at Work regulations.
* Ensure tools and equipment are maintained and stored safely.
* Be the first port of call for staff when repairs are required and assist with staff induction (e.g., operation of emergency exits, fire points and evacuation procedures).
* Provide advice over the telephone and/or be prepared to be called out.
* Assist with driving the Home's minibus, or similar vehicles, for residents' outings, as requested by the Home Manager.
Salary, hours and employment
