Role: Electrical, Control & Instrumentation Project Engineer

As an Electrical, Control & Instrumentation Project Engineer at Altrad, you will play a pivotal role in delivering cutting-edge solutions to the energy, industrial, and petrochemical sectors. Your primary responsibilities will include defining engineering solutions, delivering detailed designs, supporting project managers in budgeting and compliance, and fostering strong stakeholder relationships for efficient project execution. Key Objectives
1. Take ownership and responsibility for the execution of all assigned work
2. Define fit for purpose engineering solutions
3. Deliver a budget / estimate, schedule, multi-disciplined detailed design, detailed scope(s) of work, specifications, commissioning plans, training plans, final documentation for all assigned projects
4. Support the project manager(s) with the definition of programmes and budgets
5. Support the project manager(s) with monitoring and reporting of project performance and change management
6. Ensure all work is executed in compliance with all company and client processes
7. Support the successful execution of assigned projects; safely, and in line with specification, budget and programme
8. Support and promote all company and client site directives – HSEQ, best practice, innovations, continual improvement
9. Development and retain excellent working relationships with key stakeholders
10. Maintain up to date knowledge and competence to support the role and to align to client’s and industries’ requirements and directives
11. Strive for efficient delivery via initiatives such as “right first time” and “fit for purpose”
12. Communicate and cooperate with and support all affected parties in order to support efficient and effective project delivery
Roles and Responsibilities
13. Prepare overall project costs and schedules
14. Support project manager with development of the project programme
15. Contribute to process risk assessments (PRA’s)
16. Liaise with construction teams to gather information – estimates, methods of working, constructability, change
17. Coordinate the design process and team(s) activities, and ensure input from stakeholders - customers, operations, constructors, subcontractors, suppliers, maintenance
18. Facilitate a team of multi-discipline designers and engineers in the development of a fully detailed and approved detail design, ensuring all required aspects are considered (standards, directives, specifications and processes)
19. Manage the procurement and expedition of equipment and materials, including the review and technical approval of specifications, purchase requisitions, acceptance criteria, supplier documentation and validation of performance
20. Liaise with planning dept to provide accurate resource and schedule information
21. Facilitate technical and project reviews and approvals
22. Manage the production, issuing and control of project documentation deliverables, including final documentation packs
23. Support the construction and commissioning phases of the project
24. Manage the technical query process
25. Define the commissioning and training (operation and maintenance) procedures
26. Review critical spares requirements and manage initial stores inventory
27. Take responsibility of the project(s) hand over and completion
28. Collate, manage and report key indicator data – programme, cost, change, quality
29. HSEQ engagement (audit, TBT, etc)
Qualifications and Experience
Required
30. Degree / HND or equivalent in a Control &/or
31. Instrumentation &/or Electrical Engineering discipline
32. HSEQ qualification (i.e. IOSH)
Preferable
33. Level 4 Project Control / Management Qualification
34. CompEx – ExF (foundation) or Ex01-04 (Gas & Vapours),
35. Ex05-06 (Dust), or Ex12 (Application Design Engineers)
36. Functional Safety, IEC – TUV or equivalent
37. BS: IET Wiring Regulations - C&G-15 or equivalent
38. CDM regulations
Experience & Knowledge
39. 5 years recent experienced in an equivalent role
40. Industrial sector Engineering
41. COMAH Tier 1 Process Manufacturing Environment
42. Maintenance, shutdown / outage, project, OPEX & CAPEX
43. Functional Safety
44. ATEX directive
45. Electricity at Work Regulations
46. Control and safety system hierarchy and communication protocols
47. CDM
48. Project delivery lifecycle and processes
49. Engineering design process
50. Document control process
51. Procurement & expediting processes
52. All major Engineering disciplines – mechanical, structural, piping, EC&I, civil, process, etc
53. Equipment and material specification
54. Industrial plant construction, installation and modification processes
55. Verification processes – pre-commissioning, commissioning, hand-over
56. Commercial processes – estimating, budget, programme
57. Strong PC skills – MS Office, drafting tools, document databases, specialist Engineering design tools
