About this opportunity
Westmorland and Furness Council are looking for an experienced Infection Prevention Practitioner to work within the Westmorland and Furness Council Health Protection Team. The position is permanent working 30 hours per week over 4 days.
This role is interesting and varied, mainly working with our residential care and adult social care providers, you will provide infection prevention and control (IPC) advice and support during outbreaks of infectious disease, undertake and appropriately report IPC audits in regulated care settings and contribute to IPC training.
The Health Protection Team, within the Council Public Health Team work closely with our NHS partners to promote safe care, reduce the spread of infection and proactively support preventative healthcare. This role will provide the opportunity to develop an understanding of population level health protection and the wider determinants of health.
Who we are looking for…
We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with experience and knowledge of infection prevention and control and the management of common infections. The role requires the ability and willingness to travel around the council area. Excellent communication skills and confidence in liaising with providers and other healthcare stakeholders are essential. The individual should also be competent in basic IT skills and able to support the administrative responsibilities of the Health Protection team.
