Purpose of the position
The main purpose of the Resuscitation Practitioner is to provide emergency care in line with phase one accreditation criteria. This role involves ensuring clinical and telemetry safety coverage. The Resuscitation Practitioner bank will primarily cover night shifts (22:00 to 08:00 am) to provide ALS cover for clinical trial participants. Support the clinical trial assistants providing vital signs assessment, A to E and cardiac monitoring. Additionally, complete the resuscitation trolleys checks and any other tasks required by the ACM team.
Main duties and responsibilities
* Take a leadership role in clinical emergencies within the unit.
* Utilise ALS provider/instructor status, to develop resuscitation skills within the team.
* Administer medication as per Research Physician requests.
* Analyse blood gas sampling, bloods results and ECGs.
* Perform A to E and escalation if necessary.
* Provide telemetry safety coverage.
* Ensure infection prevention and control measures are followed by clinical staff.
Qualifications and experience
* Post qualification experience as a registered Nurse, Operating Department Practitioner or Paramedic.
* Current and continual acute clinical work experience.
* Experience with managing/participating in cardiac arrests & medical emergencies.
* Experience and knowledge in ECG interpretation and management.
* Able to work efficiently especially under pressure.
* Ability to communicate professionally with external and internal multidisciplinary team.
