The Department of Transportation, Bureau of Transportation Systems Management & Operations, has a part-time, third shift vacancy for a Transportation Management Communication Specialist (TMCSI).

SUMMARY: To receive, process, and disseminate information using the Transportation Management Center’s Transportation Management System (TMC’s TMS).
YOUR EXPERIENCE COUNTS: Each additional year of approved formal education may substitute for one year of required work experience, and vice versa.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
* Education: Associates degree from a recognized college or university in any field.
* Experience: Two years in dispatching, communications, emergency response, information technology, or comparable fields. Additional experience can substitute for formal education.
* License/Certification: None required.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
* Offers are conditional upon a negative drug test.
* Must participate in drug and alcohol testing programs.
* Subject to criminal background check.
* Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours during emergencies.
* Available for call-back duties.
All responsibilities must comply with State and Department rules, safety, and environmental standards.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Visually scan display wall for traffic information.
2. Coordinate with other TMC operators and supervisors.
3. Monitor real-time traffic data from multiple sources.
4. Operate cameras and monitors to verify traffic events.
5. Evaluate environmental conditions and RWIS data.
6. Communicate via multi-channel telephone and radio with personnel and the public about traffic events.
