Overview

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Occupational Therapist to join the Trauma and Orthopaedic Therapy Service to provide Clinical Professional Leadership within the service. The role involves both clinical and operational responsibilities, deputising for the Team Lead as appropriate. The successful candidate will provide a high quality, evidence-based therapy service to patients admitted to hospital on a trauma and/or orthopaedic pathway, including trauma, major trauma, elective surgery, fractured neck of femur and amputee patients. The post holder will provide highly specialist Occupational Therapist intervention for a caseload of Orthopaedic patients and offer advanced clinical reasoning to support complex decision making. The post holder will be involved in service development in line with current evidence-based practice and have involvement in leading audit, education and training. The post holder will provide clinical leadership and direction to the Trauma and Orthopaedic Team and carry their own caseload while overseeing caseloads of clinical staff to provide high level clinical decision making in line with current evidence-based practice. The post includes deputising for the Team Lead as necessary in managing the team’s operations.


Responsibilities

* Provide highly specialist Occupational Therapist intervention for an orthopaedic caseload and apply advanced clinical reasoning to support complex decision making.
* Lead service development in line with current evidence-based practice.
* Lead audit, education and training within the service.
* Provide clinical leadership and direction to the Trauma and Orthopaedic Team.
* Manage own caseload and oversee caseloads of clinical staff to enable high-level clinical decision making in line with current evidence-based practice.
* Deputise for the Team Lead as necessary in managing the operations of the team.


Qualifications and requirements

Experience as an Occupational Therapist with highly specialist expertise in trauma and orthopaedics; demonstrated ability to provide clinical leadership, develop services, and contribute to audit, education and training. Involvement in leading evidence-based practice and decision making is expected.

* Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check: If the post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975, it will be necessary to submit for Disclosure to the DBS. Applicants may be required to pay for their DBS check. Costs are deducted from salary following appointment. Enrolment in the DBS Update Service is encouraged (small annual fee applies).
