We are looking for a Network Engineer I to join our team out of our office in Birmingham, UK.
The Network Engineer I will work with network and security teams to provide support in configuring, troubleshooting, and monitoring physical and virtual infrastructure across a global enterprise. You will be responsible for maintaining existing configurations on routers, firewalls, switches, and other network equipment, and setting up new offices using company-defined policies and procedures. Additionally, you will monitor alerts and notifications generated by various security tools, analyze alerts for potential compromises, and perform remediation steps as necessary.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Overall support and security of assigned networks (11.1%)
2. Monitor and support network stability and performance using existing solutions (11.1%)
3. Respond to incident and service requests assigned to the network team (11.1%)
4. Undertake network fault investigations in local and wide area environments (11.1%)
5. Support logical and physical network security equipment in line with IT security policy (11.1%)
6. Upgrade or replace network equipment as required (11.1%)
7. Configure routing and switching equipment (11.1%)
8. Provide remote support to on-site IT staff and end users during installations (11.1%)
9. Manage security mechanisms to prevent, detect, and respond to internal and external security threats (11.1%)
Qualifications & Requirements:
* 1 year experience in network administration, IT security, server administration, or a combination of these roles.
* Strong understanding of network technologies including WAN, LAN, VLAN, switching, routing, firewalls, wireless/WiFi
* Ability to interpret technical documents
* Experience with technical documentation and incident reporting
* Working knowledge of Microsoft ecosystem including servers, workstations, virtualization, Azure
* Understanding of backup technologies
* Experience with querying languages such as KQL, SPL, FQL/CQL, or similar in SIEM platforms
* Proficiency with Microsoft PowerShell
* Understanding of APIs and programmatic data retrieval

Physical & Environmental Requirements:
* Occasional lifting of heavy equipment
Work Environment:
Office and data center environments, working with high voltage electrical devices for server and network equipment installation and maintenance.
Travel:
* Potential travel to other IPS locations for setup, configuration, or training, approximately 5-10% annually.
Safety:
* This is a safety-sensitive position involving work at client sites in various operational environments.
