About The Role
In your role as an Assistant Chef at HC-One, you’ll value one thing above all: kindness. It carries across every aspect of our Dementia, Nursing, Residential, and Specialist Care homes. Every single person who works here understands that our Residents are people just like them, with their own stories to tell. By joining HC-One, you’ll have a wonderful opportunity to give something back to those people.
As an Assistant Chef, you will be responsible for cooking and serving nutritious, healthy meals that our Residents will love. Whether managing food stock, optimizing your budget, coaching colleagues, or supervising kitchen clean-up, your focus will always be on Resident wellbeing.
HC-One is looking for an Assistant Chef with at least a Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate and a good understanding of Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points. Beyond that, it’s about your positive energy and ability to get along with people. You should be organized, meet deadlines, present food attractively, and follow recipes accurately. When communicating with Residents or colleagues, you should be considerate and kind.
Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility. You should be able to recognize signs of potential abuse, harm, or neglect and know what to do if concerns arise. All colleagues are required to attend safeguarding training relevant to their role and undertake additional training as needed. You should also be able to seek advice and report concerns, escalating issues if necessary.
