Job Summary
We have a fantastic fixed term/secondment (maternity cover) opportunity for an enthusiastic, highly motivated, and experienced pharmacy technician to join our pharmacy procurement team at one of the largest and busiest tertiary referral teaching trusts in the country. This role is within the pharmacy procurement team and involves additional duties across pharmacy stores at NUH, working closely with both teams to support safe and effective stock control through appropriate procurement activities.
This is an excellent opportunity for a pharmacy technician to gain knowledge and skills in pharmacy procurement. You will work alongside experienced technical staff to maintain and develop high standards of medicines procurement at NUH.
Main Duties
Under the leadership of the Advanced Technician - Procurement, Purchasing, and Formulary Support, the main duties include:
1. Supporting the management and communication of medicine shortages and supply issues, providing guidance and technical advice to purchasing staff, including sourcing acceptable alternatives.
2. Supporting the timely and safe implementation of regional and national medicines procurement contracts, considering risks, stock management, and financial issues.
3. Supporting effective stock control through appropriate procurement to minimize stock value and prevent expired stock accumulation while maintaining acceptable availability levels.
4. Providing technical support to the pharmacy finance/purchasing functions to ensure safe, appropriate, and cost-efficient medicine purchasing.
5. Supporting the Drugs and Therapeutics Committee (DTC) processes via the Chief Technician - Procurement and Formulary Support.
