Senior Geoenvironmental Engineer Basingstoke, Hampshire £45,000 - £50,000
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Geoenvironmental Engineer to join a well-established and growing environmental and geotechnical consultancy in Basingstoke. This role offers the chance to work on a wide range of brownfield redevelopment and contaminated land projects across the UK, with clear progression into leadership.
The Role
As a Senior Geoenvironmental Engineer, you will play a key role in delivering technically robust and commercially aware solutions across a diverse project portfolio. You will be responsible for managing projects from initial site investigation through to remediation and verification.
Key Responsibilities
* Managing and delivering geoenvironmental and contaminated land projects
* Designing and overseeing ground investigations
* Interpreting geotechnical and chemical data and producing factual and interpretive reports
* Conducting Phase 1 Desk Studies and Phase 2 Site Investigations
* Risk assessments (human health, groundwater, and gas)
* Designing remediation strategies and verification reporting
* Liaising with clients, regulators, and multidisciplinary teams
* Mentoring junior engineers and supporting team development
Requirements
* Degree in Geology, Environmental Science, or a related discipline
* 5+ years' experience in a geoenvironmental or contaminated land role
* Strong knowledge of UK contaminated land legislation and guidance
* Experience with risk assessment tools (e.g., CLEA)
* Excellent report writing and communication skills
* Full UK driving licence
Desirable
* Chartered status (or working towards) with a relevant body (e.g., ICE, CIWEM, or Geological Society)
* Experience managing projects and client relationships
* Knowledge of geotechnical principles
