Tradewind Recruitment is currently seeking a highly motivated and proactive SEN Teaching Assistant to join one of our valued partner secondary schools in Northampton. This is an exciting temporary-to-permanent opportunity for a confident individual who is passionate about supporting young people with additional needs and helping them achieve their full potential.

The successful candidate will work closely with secondary-aged students who have high-functioning autism and physical disabilities, providing both academic and pastoral support throughout the school day. You will play a key role in helping students access learning, develop independence, build confidence, and achieve positive outcomes in a supportive educational environment.

We are looking for someone who is resilient, adaptable, and able to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents. You must be confident in managing a range of needs and be able to use your initiative to support students effectively, both in and out of the classroom.

Key Responsibilities:

* Provide one-to-one and small group support for students with SEN.
* Support students with high-functioning autism and physical disabilities in accessing the curriculum.
* Encourage independence, social development, and positive behaviour.
* Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals.
* Assist with mobility and physical support where required.
* Maintain accurate records and contribute to student progress reviews.
* Promote an inclusive and supportive learning environment at all times.

Essential Requirements:

* Previous experience working with children or young people with Special Educational Needs.
* Strong understanding of autism and additional learning needs.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* A proactive, patient, and confident approach.
* Sound knowledge of child safeguarding procedures and a commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
* Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently when required.

This role offers the opportunity to make a genuine difference in the lives of young people while securing a long-term career within a supportive school environment.
