Job Title
We are currently recruiting for the position of Workshop Foreman to be part of our skilled team at John Raymond Transport in Bridgend, Wales.
Job Summary
The ideal candidate will be a hands-on workshop supervising foreman capable of taking charge as required, reporting to the Workshop Manager.
Responsibilities
1. Ensure all planned and unplanned maintenance events are carried out to the required standards.
2. Manage workflow and quality of maintenance & repairs undertaken.
3. Take a hands-on approach to maintenance and servicing of trucks and trailers.
4. Provide technical advice, guidance, and assistance to workshop staff members.
5. Support legal preparation and presentation of fleet and vehicle movement.
6. Work with the Workshop Manager to ensure efficient turnaround times for servicing and maintenance, including warranty repairs.
7. Ensure the availability of vehicles in line with operational requirements.
8. Optimize stock and spare parts management.
9. Maintain garage equipment and conduct planned reviews.
10. Collaborate with company managers to foster excellent working relationships for maintenance and service performance.
11. Conduct audits on repairs and inspections by service providers.
12. Keep track of all maintenance costs.
13. Maintain up-to-date records of all maintenance and service work.
14. Operate within agreed KPI parameters.
Other Duties
1. Utilize effective people management skills to motivate, guide, and develop staff.
2. Control onsite contractors ensuring safety compliance and site induction when needed.
3. Assist with vehicle breakdowns if required.
Qualifications and Skills
1. Qualified HGV mechanic or equivalent qualification.
2. Category CE driving licence is desirable.
3. Proficient with Microsoft Office and other IT programs.
4. Good organizational and communication skills.
5. A team player willing to assist and mentor staff.
