Gateshead Start Date: Easter 2026 Job Type: Full-Time Until End of Academic Year (Permanent Potential) Pay: £90-100 a day (via Teaching Personnel) Are you a Psychology graduate looking to make a meaningful impact in education? Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Psychology Graduate to join a welcoming secondary school in Gateshead as a Graduate Teaching Assistant. This is an excellent opportunity for aspiring educational psychologists, teachers, or mental health professionals to gain hands-on experience in a supportive school environment. About the Role As a Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting students’ academic achievement, emotional wellbeing, and social development. You will work closely with teachers, SEN staff, and pastoral teams to provide tailored support for students with a range of needs, including: Special Educational Needs (SEN) Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges Behavioural or learning difficulties This role offers a unique opportunity to apply psychological theory in real-world practice while developing valuable skills for future careers in education or mental health. Key Responsibilities Deliver one-to-one and small group support to students with additional needs Assist in planning and adapting lesson materials to suit individual learning styles Monitor and record student progress, identifying areas for further support Support positive behaviour management strategies Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral teams to implement personalised support plans Contribute to assessment processes and provide constructive feedback Engage in professional development and school-wide initiatives About You We are looking for someone who: Holds a degree in Psychology (or a related field) Is passionate about supporting young people to achieve their full potential Demonstrates empathy, patience, and emotional resilience Has experience working with children or vulnerable groups (desirable but not essential) Is committed to inclusive education and safeguarding What We Offer Competitive weekly pay Valuable, hands-on experience in a secondary school setting Ongoing support from Teaching Personnel Professional development opportunities Potential for a permanent position based on performance Why Apply?
