Overview
Biomedical Support Worker (full-time or part-time) to provide administrative and technical support in the department of Cellular Pathology. The post involves working as part of a team, following Standard Operating Procedures, and maintaining a versatile approach to workload.
Responsibilities
* Receive and book in specimen samples and label them with Laboratory numbers/barcodes.
* Input patient demographics and technical laboratory data into the Laboratory Information System; file and perform general administration tasks.
* Pre-analytical sample sorting and general laboratory housekeeping to ensure a clean and efficient workspace.
* Deal with telephone enquiries and provide a high standard of customer service.
* Assist with administrative tasks as directed by the senior team; support the biomedical scientist staff in the processing of samples.
* Attend mandatory and statutory training; ensure workplace and benches are kept clean and tidy.
* Maintain a flexible approach to adapt to changes in workload and requirements.
* Carry out postal duties including incoming/outgoing mail and referred samples.
