The Principal Manufacturing Engineer / Production Engineer will focus on technical leadership, research and development, project management, training and mentorship of engineers, regulatory compliance, and goal setting. As the Principal Production Engineer, you will play a critical role in advancing our production capabilities while ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards.
The responsibilities of the role are (but not limited to):
* Provide technical leadership to the production team, driving the optimisation of manufacturing processes and resolving complex technical challenges.
* Plan and deliver your own work, across medium term planning horizons and provide complex technical advice to both internal and external customers.
* research and development initiatives to identify and implement advanced technologies and best practices in production processes.

* Implement improvements to manufacturing efficiency by capacity analysis, simulation planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout.

* Undertake line management responsibilities for an allocated Team of Production Engineers.

Principal Manufacturing Engineer / Production Engineer specification:
* Right to live and work in the UK, with ability to obtain suitable level security clearance
* Degree in relevant engineering discipline (Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering) or equivalent experience in role.
* Experience in a leadership role within a Manufacturing environment.
* Ability to review production schedules; reviewing production labour and material costs; estimating future requirements.
* People management & leadership skills; including effective performance and change management skills to multi-functional teams.
* Demonstrate an understanding of cross functional / commercial business processes and their own impact.
* Demonstrated knowledge and experience of multiple phases of the Product Life Cycle and the associated processes, becoming SME.
* Experience in compiling risk assessments and report writing, as necessary.
* Excellent communication skills
* Proficient in MS Office
This role is typically worked over a 4.5 day week; Monday to Thursday 08:00 – 16:45 and Friday 08:00 – 12:30. Flexibility is required to support the needs of the business.
