About the Role
We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer with deep backend expertise in TypeScript/Node.js to join our Enterprise Engineering Web Applications team. You will design, build, and maintain backend services and APIs that support Roku's first-party enterprise tools with a focus on the accounting and finance domain. You'll also contribute to frontend development using modern frameworks and own end-to-end quality through test automation.
This is an AI-first engineering role. You will be expected to integrate AI tools and agentic workflows into your daily development process, using them to accelerate delivery, improve code quality, and build smarter internal tools.
What You'll Be Doing
1. Design and implement backend services and APIs in TypeScript/Node.js
2. Build and maintain full-stack enterprise applications supporting accounting, finance, and business operations
3. Architect solutions that are reliable, maintainable, and scalable for internal business-critical workflows
4. Own end-to-end test automation by building and maintaining E2E test suites
5. Collaborate with finance and accounting stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions
6. Use AI coding tools (Claude, Copilot, OpenCode, etc.) as core parts of your development workflow
7. Build and improve internal developer tooling, automation, and agentic workflows
8. Participate in technical design discussions, and mentoring of team members
We're Excited If You Have
9. 7+ years of relevant software development experience
10. Strong backend development expertise in TypeScript and Node.js, with Java and Python experience nice-to-have
11. Experience building and shipping production web applications with modern frameworks (React, Next.js, or similar)
12. Hands-on experience with end-to-end test automation frameworks (Playwright, Cypress, or similar)
13. Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and data modeling
14. Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
15. Experience with Kubernetes
16. Experience in a globally distributed team
