Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Modern Matron 11 month fixed term contract to cover for maternity leave. The successful candidate will provide clinical leadership to an 18 bedded male acute ward and an 18 bedded female adult ward. The post holder will be accountable for standards of quality, patient experience, patient safety and clinical effectiveness within the environment.
The successful candidate would be expected to have experience of working at a band 7 or above in an inpatient setting. We are committed to the delivery of outstanding care for our patients. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the clinical lead Consultants Psychiatrists, in ensuring that the wards are safe and a learning culture is fostered.
The post holder will have responsibility for ensuring optimum performance within the team, monitoring of service quality and developing services to meet national and local policies, targets and evidence-based practice. Excellent communication and motivation skills are essential, as is the ability to promote strong leadership, demonstrating both our Trust values and our culture of compassionate care.

Responsibilities
* Manage nursing staff, clerical/administrative staff and those who support care delivery.
* Ensure that national and service-quality standards relating to the ward/unit environment and non-clinical support services are monitored and reported on.
* Be a visible, accessible and authoritative presence in clinical areas, providing assistance, advice and support to staff, patients, relatives, carers and visitors.
Qualifications and Requirements
* Experience at band 7 or above in an inpatient setting.
* Strong leadership, communication and motivational skills.
* Ability to work collaboratively with clinical leads and maintain a learning culture.
