An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Band 7 to head up our Acute Medical Unit and Same Day Emergency Care within the Division of Medicine.
The ward leader will need to demonstrate a flexible approach in managing the daily clinical workload and have the interpersonal skills to manage a dynamic workforce. The post holder will also work closely with the Acute Frailty Unit and the Emergency Department, providing high-quality care within this interesting and diverse inpatient ward.

Please note we require an experienced Registered Ward Leader/Senior Sister/Senior Charge Nurse with current NMC Registration.
Main duties of the job
1. Assume responsibility for the designated ward and provide clinical leadership to the nursing team.
2. Lead and develop the nursing team in the care of acute patients and assist in developing clinical competencies.
3. Work in a 20:80 split, both clinically on the ward and in a managerial capacity.

Person Specification
Education, qualifications, and training (Essential):
* NMC Registration
* Evidence of clinical leadership and management
Desirable:
* Leadership and/or Management course
* Advanced communication skills training
Experience (Essential):
* Minimum of 2 years experience as a Band 6
* Experience as a senior nurse demonstrating evidence-based practice
* Experience of teaching and assessing in clinical areas
* Knowledge of NHS legislation including clinical governance, COSHH, H&S, IP&C, manual handling, confidentiality
Desirable:
* Experience of collaborative working and service development
* Experience of change management and project development
