Events Marketing is a global team supporting Morgan Stanley businesses worldwide to plan and execute exceptional client events. The Marketing organisation is part of Integrated Firm Management, which drives coordination and commercial outcomes across our businesses as we consistently and systematically deliver Morgan Stanley to all our clients globally.
Role Overview
The team responsible for events in the EMEA region are based in London at Canary Wharf, delivering events mainly in London/UK, Europe, and the Middle East. The team supports all of the Firm's businesses, including Sales & Trading, Investment Banking, Investment Management, and Corporate. Reporting to the Head of Conferences in EMEA, the Senior Planner is responsible for creating and delivering market-leading client conferences and experiences in partnership with business unit sponsors. The role requires a keen interest in Finance, strong understanding of business objectives, relationship building, and being a trusted advisor.
Responsibilities
1. Planning and executing a broad range of firm-wide conferences and events, including flagship and C-suite level events.
2. Leading or supporting larger conferences, managing specific elements like dinners, satellite events, client liaison, onsite staff, and vendors.
3. Advising business hosts, creatively identifying solutions that meet their needs while adhering to best practices, including budget management, data protection, compliance, contracts, and risk management.
4. Managing key supplier relationships and negotiating costs, including venue sourcing.
5. Owning the event budget, maintaining detailed records, and processing invoices accurately.
6. Proposing and implementing best practices for invitations, working with BU, Web team, and marketing materials creation.
7. Managing external speakers, maintaining relationships with agencies, and handling logistics and approvals.
8. Ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, including participation of government officials.
9. Collaborating on contracts, timelines, and creative materials with design and legal teams.
10. Coordinating with AV teams for event production, webcast, and social media.
11. Providing accurate reporting, hosting debriefs, and planning for subsequent events.
Key Skills and Experience
* Minimum 6 years of event planning experience in Investment Banking, including leading key franchise events.
* Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and clients.
* Leadership, innovation, decision-making, and vendor relationship skills.
* Knowledge of high-end venues and event technology.
* Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work under pressure.
* Flexibility to work long hours and travel as needed.
* Excellent communication skills, proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.
