What You’ll Be Doing:
* Design & Analysis: Conduct in-depth analysis and design of complex structures in line with Eurocodes, British Standards, and BAE standards to support submarine construction.
* Regulatory Expertise: Leverage your knowledge of regulations that extend beyond BAE Systems, including LOLER, Codes of Compliance, Weld Specifications, and Geometric Tolerance.
* Technical Proficiency: Utilize computer-based analytical methods, including finite element analysis, CAD modeling, and interpreting engineering schematics (Abaqus, S-Frame).
* Manufacturing Support: Provide essential support for the manufacturing, assembly, lifting, handling, and installation of submarine structures, modules, and components.
* Fast-Paced Contributions: Apply your knowledge of facility and site constraints related to shipping, handling, alignment, and installation of hull units and large equipment.
* Technical Deliverables: Assist in developing concept drawings, layouts, and other technical deliverables, ensuring alignment with project schedules, targets, and budget constraints.
Your Skills and Experience:
Essential:
* BEng/MEng in Engineering or equivalent, or HND with extensive experience in Civil/Mechanical/Structural Engineering.
* Experience in Hand Analysis and Design Techniques, including report writing.
* Strong understanding of Eurocodes and British Standards.
* Solid grasp of mechanical engineering, structural steelwork, and knowledge of lifting handling and LOLER.
Desirable:
* Experience in a production environment, particularly in marine production.
* Familiarity with ABAQUS, S-Frame, MathCAD, and Excel.

The Production Engineering Department Team:
As a Senior Structural Engineer, you’ll be part of a dynamic team that blends design and engineering expertise. You’ll play a crucial role in conducting engineering assessments to support our build process, collaborating closely with the design team to develop equipment and provide operational support for safety-critical systems. Relocation support is available for eligible candidates across all submarine roles.
